His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the President of the United Arab Emirates, or the UAE. Due to the hard work of Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba, His Highness has promoted him to Minister. His Highness Sheikh Khalifa made an announcement recognizing the loyalty Minister Al Otaiba has shown to his country, and the nine-years he spent building a closer connection to the United States.
The Accomplishments of Yousef Al Otaiba
Yousef Al Otaiba originally became the Ambassador to the United States for the UAE in 2008. His achievements include increasing the military, enhancing the bilateral security relationships, and cooperation in both counter terrorism and intelligence. He has worked closely with many of the officials of the United States Government and the leaders of business to strengthen the trade and economic relationships between the UAE and the United States.
Yousef Al Otaiba has been instrumental in the development of much closer cultural, educational and social ties through exchanges and partnerships with the New York University, Cleveland Clinic, Smithsonian, Johns Hopkins, Children’s National Medical Center and numerous additional institutions in the United States.
Prior to the UAE Ambassadorship to the United States
Prior to becoming the UAE Ambassador to the United States, (http://www.abeeralotaiba.com/about/) Yousef Al Otaiba played a major role in strengthening the economic relations and security of the UAE with many other countries. This was accomplished during his time as the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi’s Director of International Affairs, while serving the UAE armed forces as the Deputy Supreme Commander for His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The responsibilities of Yousef Al Otaiba included his service to the UAE as one of the principle defense, anti-terrorist and security liaisons to the other governments. His involvement in the diplomatic efforts to improve defense cooperation and regional security is to be commended.
The Current Role of Minister Yousef Al Otaiba
Minister Yousef Al Otaiba is expected to stay in his current role as the Ambassador to the United States for the UAE. He will continue enhancing bilateral relations by overseeing the strategic initiatives.
